Text files

  • Are in HTML, PDF, or Word file format.

PowerPoint files

  • Are in PPT file format.
  • Allow the student to download and edit.
  • Allow student to select printing format.
  • Allow student to replay saved file offline.

PowerPoint slideshows

  • Are in PPS file format.
  • May be good for on screen viewing, but not for printing.
  • Allow the student to download and replay, but not edit.

PowerPoint with audio

  • Are made ¬†with Audacity, Camtasia, or Adobe Presenter.
  • May have video included.

Audio files

  • May be pre-recorded or recorded live during classroom lecture.
  • Should be stored on ISU RealServer or ISU iTunesU.

Pre-recorded classes

  • May show instructor and/or computer screen.
  • Will have voice.
  • Can be replayed as needed or moved to different point in recording.
  • Can be made in anoffice, classroom, or in recording studio.
  • Are made with Wimba (screen, voice, camera optional,) Adobe Connect (screen, voice, camera optional,) or Camtasia (screen and voice.)

Live-recorded classes

  • May show instructor and/or the computer screen.
  • Will have voice.
  • Can be replayed as needed or moved to different point in recording.
  • Can be made in an office, classroom, or in recording studio.
  • Can include online student interaction during recording.
  • May include classroom (in person) students’ voices if recording area set up for this.
  • Are made with Wimba or Adobe Connect
